Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) at Penn State celebrated entrepreneurship and innovation at University Park and across the commonwealth on November 12 – 16, 2017. GEW is an international event annually celebrated in 170 countries through local, national, and global activities during the third week in November.
The Penn State EdTech Network was proud to participate in GEW at Penn State by hosting Dr. Ben Amaba, Global Executive, IBM Hybrid Cloud Division, as a keynote speaker on Monday, November 13. Dr. Amaba, who works to bring together industry and academia, spoke to participants about the keys to success as a startup and the resources available to them through IBM’s Global Entrepreneur program. IBM’s program provides startups the opportunity to engage with a world-wide leader in cognitive technology and allows them to tap into a number of tools to grow their business. Dr. Amaba finished the event by stating, “To be successful, you need a system. I’ve given you the system, I need positive intent. All you have to do now is expend the energy to make a difference.” View the full video below.
Learn more about how the EdTech Network is bringing together industry and academia through the Nittany AI Challenge starting in January 2018. During the challenge, teams will have to use the artificial intelligence (AI) platform(s) of their choosing to develop and present AI-based solutions that improve the student experience at Penn State, solve real problems that the University is facing, and/or generate innovative startup ideas. IBM, one of this year's Nittany AI Challenge partners, will offer workshops and mentoring to help teams better understand and navigate Watson, their AI platform.
